Keyboard Shortcuts Guide

MONTON provides basic keyboard shortcuts to help you navigate the application more efficiently. While the application is primarily designed for mouse/touch interaction, these shortcuts can improve your productivity.

Available Shortcuts

System-wide shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + K (Windows) / Cmd + K (Mac): Open global search
  • Ctrl + B (Windows) / Cmd + B (Mac): Toggle sidebar collapse/expand
  • Esc: Close modals, dropdowns, and overlays

Standard Browser Navigation

Browser shortcuts that work in MONTON:

  • Ctrl + R (Windows) / Cmd + R (Mac): Refresh current page
  • Alt + ← (Windows) / Cmd + ← (Mac): Go back (browser back)
  • Alt + → (Windows) / Cmd + → (Mac): Go forward (browser forward)
  • Ctrl + F (Windows) / Cmd + F (Mac): Find on page
  • Tab: Navigate forward through interface elements
  • Shift + Tab: Navigate backward through interface elements

Form and Input Shortcuts

Text Input

Standard text editing shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + A (Windows) / Cmd + A (Mac): Select all text
  • Ctrl + C (Windows) / Cmd + C (Mac): Copy text
  • Ctrl + V (Windows) / Cmd + V (Mac): Paste text
  • Ctrl + X (Windows) / Cmd + X (Mac): Cut text
  • Ctrl + Z (Windows) / Cmd + Z (Mac): Undo
  • Ctrl + Y (Windows) / Cmd + Shift + Z (Mac): Redo

Form Navigation

Form interaction shortcuts:

  • Tab: Move to next form field
  • Shift + Tab: Move to previous form field
  • Enter: Submit form or activate button (context-dependent)
  • Esc: Cancel form editing or close modal
  • Space: Activate checkboxes and buttons

Task and Project Shortcuts

Task Management

When editing tasks:

  • Enter: Save task name when editing
  • Esc: Cancel task editing
  • Tab: Navigate between task fields

Dialog and Modal Shortcuts

Modal interaction:

  • Esc: Close dialog or modal
  • Enter: Confirm action (when focused on confirm button)
  • Tab: Navigate between modal elements

Search Functionality

Search shortcuts:

Limitations and Notes

What’s NOT Available

MONTON does not currently support:

  • Custom keyboard shortcuts for specific features
  • Vim-style navigation keys
  • Complex keyboard shortcuts for project management
  • Keyboard shortcuts for time tracking
  • Application-specific hotkeys beyond search and sidebar

Platform Differences

Windows vs Mac:

  • Windows uses Ctrl key for most shortcuts
  • Mac uses Cmd key instead of Ctrl
  • Some shortcuts may behave differently based on browser

Mobile Devices

  • Keyboard shortcuts are not available on mobile devices
  • Touch gestures replace keyboard navigation on mobile
